June 1, 2020

Dear valued patients and parents of Milton Orthodontics,

We thank you very much for your continued patience and cooperation during our closure. We will be re-opening the office as of Thursday, June 4, 2020. We have received the revised guidelines last night from our dental governing body, the Royal College of Dental Surgeons of Ontario (RCDSO).  We are not opening to patients immediately so that we can ensure that all guidelines are met and we can keep our staff and patients safe.

We ask you to be very patient with us as we start rescheduling hundreds of cancelled appointments. We ask you to, please, wait for us to contact you with your appointment date and time. We will be rescheduling appointments in chronological priority starting with March 17, 2020. Our schedule has been modified to be able to accommodate new Covid-19 protocols. We will not be able to see the volume of patients we normally did prior to the pandemic. We have added more staff hours and days to accommodate you as quickly as possible. We are dedicated to working more hours and more days over the next few months to be able to see you as soon as we can. Please, be aware that your original appointment date will be postponed by approximately 13 weeks.

When your appointment is booked, you will receive a link to a screening questionnaire as well as a detailed outline of our new protocols for you to follow. Please, complete and submit the screening questionnaire 24-48 hours prior to the scheduled appointment.

Messages will continue to be checked during our regular office hours Monday through Friday. Colleen or Crystal will be pleased to help you. Please, also feel free to reach us through our email or website form.

We are here to help you with orthodontic emergencies. We will be dealing with any emergencies on an individual basis. If you are unsure of how to manage any orthodontic situation, please, call us or email us a photo (photos are very helpful), so we can help you manage the issue. Dr. Berka’s contact information is on our answering machine message for after-hour concerns.

We are so looking forward to seeing you again soon and continuing to take care of your smiles!

Sincerely,

Dr. Eva Berka and Staff at Milton Orthodontics

Any scheduled appointments from June 1, 2020 and onwards have now all been cancelled. We will not be calling you individually to cancel your appointment. Please, rest assured, that we are planning to call each of you to reschedule your appointment once we know our date to reopen and we have finalized the schedule. Please, wait for us to call you. We have a very accurate list of all cancelled appointments. We will be rebooking patients in the proper chronological order. May 20, 2020

Thank you for all your patience and cooperation throughout our closure.

We still do not have a date to reopen the office. Although restrictions on dentists are easing in other provinces, we are still awaiting news of the same here in Ontario from our governing body. (R.C.D.S.O.)

We are currently working behind the scenes to finalize our schedule based on the expected new guidelines. We are also ensuring strict adherence to infection control protocols set by Public Health and R.C.D.S.O. To learn more about these protocols, please review our infection control protocol page.

Once we know the date to reopen, our office will call you to inform you of your next appointment date and time. Please, wait for us to call you. We have a very accurate list of every cancelled appointment.

Once we know the date to reopen, you will also receive an email with a confirmation of your next appointment date and time along with details of our new office COVID-19 protocols. If we do not have your email on file, please pass on your email using the form below at your earliest convenience.

We realize that you have been waiting to be seen at the office. Our aim is to get everyone in once we reopen based on the original chronological and priority sequence. The first cancelled appointments will be the first rescheduled starting with March 16. Please be aware, that certain appointments will need to be scheduled at specific times and in certain chairs. Some appointments will be less available due to strict new COVID-19 regulations. Please, be patient with us as we reschedule hundreds of cancelled appointments. Our schedule and our protocols will be in place to ensure the safety of you and our staff.

We have added more staff hours and days over the next few months to help us see you as soon as possible. Dr Berka and her staff are all dedicated to working longer hours and more days to be able to catch up.

If you have anything broken (such as a brace or an Invisalign attachment), please, ensure to report it. If we were planning to take your braces off and you feel that something may have changed or shifted, please report it. This will ensure that we book your next appointment correctly. Please report at your earliest convenience using the form below.

May 14, 2020

Dear valued patients and parents,

Due to the continuing COVID-19 pandemic, our office will remain closed. Our date to reopen is yet to be determined. The continuation of the closure has been highly recommended by the dental governing body, the Royal College of Dental Surgeons of Ontario and the Government of Ontario.  The office closure is to help maintain the safety of our patients, parents, staff and the community. We are trying to do our part to flatten the curve.

Any scheduled appointments from May 18-June 1, 2020 have now been cancelled. We will not be calling you individually to cancel your appointment. Please, rest assured, that we are planning to call each of you to reschedule your appointment once we know our date to reopen. We will continue to update you on the planned re-opening date.

This office closure is understandably an inconvenience to all involved. For those in active orthodontic treatment, delaying orthodontic treatment for a few weeks is very unlikely to cause any significant harm. Here are some instructions to follow:

  • MOST IMPORTANT: Brush and floss your teeth regularly (2-3x per day) to maintain excellent oral hygiene. Use all the oral hygiene supplies daily (ex. Proxybrush) discussed with you when you started your orthodontic treatment.
  • Avoid excessive consumption of sweetened beverages ex. Soft drinks, juice, sports drinks, iced tea or foods (candies).
  • For patients in braces, avoid hard and crunchy foods
  • Continue to follow the instructions given to you at your last visit (ex. Pattern and amount of time to wear elastics).
  • For those wearing Invisalign aligners, once you are in the last aligner, wear this aligner every night to maintain the current tooth positions until your next appointment at the office.
  • For those of you who have finished orthodontic treatment and are wearing retainers, follow the instructions that were provided to you at your last visit regarding the wear of your removable retainer(s). If your bonded retainer comes loose, please, wear your removable retainer (if applicable) full time until we resume our regular visits and can then repair the breakage.

Messages will continue to be checked during our regular office hours Monday through Thursday during our closure. Colleen or Crystal will be pleased to help you. Please, also feel free to reach us through email or by using the form below.

We are here to help you with orthodontic emergencies. We will be dealing with any emergencies on an individual basis. An orthodontic emergency involves bleeding, swelling or infection. Repair of broken brackets or Invisalign attachments will not be scheduled during the office closure. If you are unsure of how to manage any orthodontic situation, please, call us or email us a photo (photos are very helpful!), so we can help you manage the issue. Dr. Berka’s contact information is on our answering machine message for after-hour concerns.

We thank you for your continuing patience, cooperation and understanding. Stay safe and healthy. We look forward to seeing you soon.

March 23, 2020

Dear valued Patients and Parents,

I personally wish to update you.

As announced to you earlier this week, all dentists and dental specialists in Ontario have received notice from the dental governing body, the Royal College of Dental Surgeons, that all dental offices suspend all non-essential and elective dental services immediately due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Therefore, our office is closed. We appreciate your support and understanding as this is a necessary measure to protect our patients, our staff and the community. We expect to re-open Monday, April 6. We will keep you posted if our date to re-open changes.

All appointments up to and including April 3 have been cancelled. We have been and will be contacting patients/parents over the next few weeks to reschedule appointments. Messages will be checked during our regular business hours during our closure. Please, also feel free to reach us through our email.

We are here to help you with orthodontic emergencies. We will be dealing with any emergency on an individual basis. An orthodontic emergency involves bleeding, swelling or infection. Repair of broken brackets will not be scheduled during the office closure. If you are unsure of how to manage any orthodontic situation, please, call us or email us a photo, so we can help you manage the issue. My contact information is on our answering machine for after-hour concerns.

I understand the inconvenience our closure may cause you. The closure of the office is necessary so that we can slow down the spread of COVID-19. I appreciate your cooperation and understanding.
Stay safe and healthy. I and my staff look forward to seeing you soon.

Sincerely,

Dr. Eva Berka
