Milton Orthodontics has always been on the front lines of preventing the spread of diseases. From treatment and waiting room disinfection to the strict use of personal protective equipment (PPE), the safety of our patients and staff members continues to be of utmost importance.
During the COVID-19 crisis and beyond, the safety of patients and staff continues to be a top priority:
Before, during and after treatment:
When it comes to preventing the spread of disease, rest assured that we have always been strict on universal precautions. Precautions have always included the use of masks, glasses, gloves, sterile instruments and devices as well as clean and disinfected environmental surfaces.
Additionally, frequently touched surfaces such as door handles, chairs, desks and bathrooms are cleaned and disinfected often. Other objects that may be difficult to disinfect, such as magazines, reading material and our coffee/tea station have been removed altogether. We have also installed HEPA air cleaners, a UV light filter and an HRV (heat recovery ventilation) unit to circulate and purify the air within the office.
The process may look a little different:
While your check-in may involve a few extra steps this will help ensure the safety of patients and staff. For instance, the process will include filling out a screening questionnaire 24-48 hours prior to your visit. We now ask you to brush your teeth at home before coming to the office as our brushing station is closed. On the day of your appointment, you will wait in your vehicle versus the waiting room. You will text the office to indicate your arrival and we will let you know once you can come into the office. We will be checking your temperature upon entering, asking you to hand sanitizer upon entering and leaving the office and asking that you follow social distancing and infection control etiquette. Active patients are to be seen on their own. Child consultation appointments will be permitted to have one accompanying adult into the office. This accompanying adult will also need to also answer screening questions 24-48 hours prior to the consultation visit.
During your appointment, you may be asked to use a 1.5% hydrogen peroxide rinse, which helps bring down the number of germs and viruses in the mouth to a lower level. There will be fewer patients in the office at one time to promote social distancing. Although we love to chat, socializing will be less than what you have been accustomed to, so we can complete your appointment efficiently. If you have any questions or concerns, your orthodontic team is available to provide answers at tel:(905)878-8865 or through use of our contact form.
Rest assured that Milton Orthodontics will be strictly following any recommended precautions to treat all our patients safely.
