Appointments

We would like you to understand the goals we seek to achieve by our appointment system.  Orthodontic force systems must be adjusted and monitored every 7-8 weeks for treatment to proceed as planned.  Some of the office visits will inevitably conflict with work or school.  In order to balance the need for regular appointments with the need to minimize missed school and work hours, we have designed our office schedule to accomplish the following:

  1. We have a different schedule for each working day.  We have attempted to provide as many varied times as possible such as early mornings, lunchtimes and late afternoons.
  2. We want to see each patient at the time of his or her scheduled appointment.  Your time is valuable.

Orthodontic treatment proceeds in stages.  At some points what is needed is a nudge here and there, requiring a relatively short appointment.  At other times, major changes are required in the appliance, necessitating a long appointment.  With this in mind:

  1. We will at times have to schedule appointments during school and work hours.
  • We will try our best to accommodate your schedule taking into consideration, work, school and extracurricular activities. There will likely be times in which your preferred spots may already be filled and we will need your co-operation in either re-arranging your schedule or accepting an appointment at a less than ideal time.  We do have a cancellation list that we can refer to as well.
  • Confirming:  As a courtesy to you, we do send email/text message reminders for appointments. This is an automated system and is not always reliable. 

6.   Because the schedule is carefully crafted, arriving late or missing your appointment can pose a problem.  In fairness to the other scheduled patients, we will not accommodate a late arrival into the schedule.  We may have to reschedule the appointment unless there is an opening that we had not expected.  All failed or late appointments should be rescheduled as soon as possible.  Since the after school and work hour appointments are booked several weeks in advance, it will likely be necessary to reschedule the missed appointment during the middle of the day.  If you need an emergency appointment, we will bring you in as soon as possible to correct the problem.

7.  We require 24 hours notice for any cancellations, otherwise, you may be charged for a missed appointment.
